Safety is not just talk, it is a combined and active effort on the part of all our employees and management together using the various programs at Flint. People is a core value at Flint and our safety target is a zero injury workforce. We are, and will continue to be, a leader in the implementation of safety programs and practices that maintain and improve the safety of our employees.

Flint's high regard for employee safety is illustrated by an impressive safety record over the last five years. We are committed to ensuring each Flint employee has the tools that allow him or her to look after themselves regardless of where they are working. Our comprehensive, pro-active Safety Management System is an integration of the successes, innovations, safety fundamentals and benchmarking practices and programs developed by our entire organization and backed by a committed corporate safety team.

Safety Management Programs at Flint:

Annual safety workshops are held to review Flint's safety statistics and behaviour observations.

Flint's risk management programs review and identify at risk behaviours and reinforce safe practices.

Safety meetings are held regularly.

Internal employee and committee meetings always begin with a safety moment.

Comprehensive safety training programs include First Aid, CPR, defensive driving, and hazard alert training programs.

Behaviour-based programs are another tool where employees can report potential hazards and reinforce positive safe behaviours, both increasing our safety awareness and commitment to keeping employees safe. 

Fresh Start safety campaigns held annually to renew our commitment to safe practices.  Each of Flint's sites is visited by a senior management representative who presents a unified safety message to employees. Industry and construction associations also promote this time period to focus industry field and front line workers on safety. We know that hearing directly from senior management is an important factor in Flint's exceptional safety record.
