With Flint's philosophy of 'build it, and then maintain it', Flint Transfield Services (FT Services) was established in 2006 through a joint venture with Transfield Services to provide complete delivery of sophisticated management services for all routine maintenance, plant turnarounds for oil sands production facilities, oil refineries and related chemical, energy, electrical and processing plants. FT Services signed a five year, $1 billion contract with Suncor Energy to deliver asset management and maintenance services at its oils sands facilities near Fort McMurray and in-situ facilities, and their Sarnia, Ontario refinery. Additional services under the Suncor Energy contract includes engineering and construction for their sustaining capital projects. In 2007, FT Services also signed a smaller three-year maintenance contract with another oil sands producer and is involved in bid proposals with several oil sands producers.

Flint's three northern companies are jointly owned by aboriginal enterprises representing the Gwich'in and Sahtu First Nations and provide construction and maintenance services to a number of producers in the Mackenzie Valley regions.

With the billions of dollars in new oil sands and upgrading projects planned over the next 10 years, the potential volume of maintenance work is expected to grow rapidly. Similarly Flint is well positioned to provide service for the proposed Mackenzie Valley pipeline when it proceeds.
