At Flint we have built a safety culture that says "People are Number One 24/7". Safety is not just talk, it is an active effort on the part of all our employees and management together using the various programs at Flint. "People" is a core value at Flint and our safety target is a zero injury workforce. We are, and will continue to be, a leader in the implementation of safety programs and practices that maintain and improve the safety of our employees.

Flint's Zero Injury Triangle represents "begin with the end in mind" - a Covey principle that means people should be able to plan and execute their work such that the worst incident to happen is a first aid.  The numbers 1, 10, 30 in the middle of the triangle represent the natural progression of serious incidents that could eventually result if not identified and addressed appropriately. The number 300 represents At Risk observable behaviours that are needed to occur to support the progression of severity up the triangle path. The number 2,700 represent the Safe observable behaviours that we all exhibit during the majority of our work day.  The Zero Injury Triangle further illustrates that if consistent efforts are made at the foundation of safety awareness, these at risk and safe behaviour observations can create awareness, trigger proactive communication and learning opportunities for our employees, resulting in a substantial reduction in safety incidents.  Field attests, safety meetings, safety alerts, safety workshops, behaviour observations, and employee lead safety moments are foundational tools used by Flint employees to support each other creating a safe working environment.  Flint's safety target is a zero injury workforce.  We have a saying at Flint - People are #1 24/7 and that saying is so powerful, it is a core value statement within the organization.

We are committed to ensure each Flint employee has the tools that allow him or her to look after themselves regardless of where they are working. Our comprehensive, pro-active Safety Management System is an integration of the successes, innovations, safety fundamentals and benchmarking practices and programs developed by our entire organization and backed by a committed corporate safety team.

  • Fresh Start safety campaigns held annually.  The New Year is not only a time for resolutions but also Flint management  uses this symbolic time to renew their commitment to safe practices.  Industry and construction associations promote this time period as their safety campaign where executives speak to front line workers. This resolve is more than symbolic and features a visit to each of Flint's sites by senior management to meet with employees and talk about the importance of and commitment to our employees' and contractors' safety. We know that hearing directly from senior management of the Company is an important factor in Flint's exceptional safety record as Flint increases its activity and number of employees year over year.
