Flint invests in people providing training and avenues for personal development. Special effort is made to support Aboriginal and First Nations people and local communities where Flint works throughout North America. This priority is reflected in Flint's Aboriginal and Local Development Program which is designed to encourage active involvement of Aboriginal, First Nations and local communities in Flint's business.

Creating Opportunity
- Flint promotes involvement and seeks to provide subcontract opportunities with Aboriginal, First Nations and local community service providers where Flint does business.
- Flint provides opportunity while adhering to the highest standards of quality, safety, and execution and meeting or exceeding client expectations.
- All subcontractors must meet Flint's pre-qualification requirements.
Supporting Education
- Flint works with industry and government participants to leverage educational programs.
- Flint, in partnership with Edmonton's Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, provides four Aboriginal Entrance Awards annually.
- Flint, in partnership with Ft. McMurray's Keyano College provides annual scholarships for Aboriginal students.
Aboriginal Awareness
- Flint respects the diverse cultures, spirituality and strong ties to the land held by Aboriginal peoples.
- Flint offers Aboriginal awareness training to management and frontline employees.
- Flint learns about Aboriginal cultures and reflects this learning in the form of recognition and respect when interacting with Aboriginal people.

Community Involvement

- Flint fosters mutual understanding by participating in Aboriginal, First Nations and local community events and by encouraging Aboriginal and First Nations and local participation in Flint events.
Partnerships
- Mackenzie Valley Construction is a leading heavy equipment and construction company jointly owned by the Gwich'in Development Corporation (51%) and Flint Energy Services Ltd. (49%). Headquartered out of Inuvik, Northwest Territories with additional operations based in Fort McPherson, Mackenzie Valley Construction specializes in road / highway construction and maintenance and general oilfield services in the western Arctic area.
- Mackenzie Aboriginal Corporation (MAC) combines knowledge of northern Canada construction with the experience and equipment of northern contractors and established construction companies, to create a unique privately-held construction company. MAC is an aboriginal-owned company with business relationships with five construction partners (Flint Energy Services Ltd. is one of these five partners) competent in installing large pipelines in northern Canada. MAC is positioned to include competent and successful aboriginal and northern businesses in its contracting and procurement strategy in an attempt to keep much of the benefit of the pipeline construction in the local communities.
- S.R.P. North Ventures Ltd. is a 66% First Nations owned corporation based out of Norman Wells servicing the oil and gas industry. S.R.P. North Ventures offers a complete line of construction and off-road equipment and teams suitable and experienced to meet the challenges that the northern region brings from its beautiful landscape to its rugged terrain and extreme climate. Work performed in the Aboriginal areas of the north benefit local communities and Aboriginal workers gain expertise and work experience within their community and Flint proudly partners with S.R.P. North Ventures in support of this goal.
